My tonsil stones...
A white spot in
the back of the throat.
A few years ago I began to notice a small white
spot in the back of my throat (tonsil stones). At first I thought I was just
getting a sore throat but I didn't really feel any pain. After some time the
spot remained. I began to panic thinking it could be some form of throat or
tonsil cancer. I wanted to know what the spot was so I asked both my physician
and dentist. Since neither of them knew what tonsil stones looked like, I was
told it was just some debris and I should gargle with a mouth rinse. I tried
gargling but my tonsil stone remained.
It was getting
annoying.
After several weeks the spot had grown and was becoming
annoying, like there was a foreign object in my throat. I never experienced pain
with my tonsil stones. It was just extremely annoying. I decided to try to
scrape the sore from my throat with a toothbrush. This proved to be quite the
task. I was successful in nothing but gagging myself for the next three days. I
eventually gathered my nerve and stuck my finger into my throat successfully
removing the debris (tonsil stone). I immediately checked the mirror to see if
it was bleeding. Thankfully it was not. I noticed what looked like a hole where
the tonsil stone was. The substance in my hand was a semi-hard white to off
white ball. Now that it was gone along with the annoying foreign object feeling
I was elated. This lasted for about three weeks until I noticed the annoying
feeling again. I checked the mirror and saw another white spot (tonsil stone). I
decided to consult an old friend, the internet for advice.
Researching the spot.
Online I found a diagram and
explanation. The white spot was actually called a tonsillolith. , also referred to as a
tonsil stone or a tonsil rock. The cause is not really known but the condition
seems to be relatively harmless. Really the only negative impacts are the
foreign object feeling and very bad breath (although I hadn't sniffed my tonsil
stones apparently they smell very fowl). It is thought that the tonsil stones
are formed by deposits of mucous and other particles which gather in the tonsils
of people with deep tonsil pockets. Apparently I only have one deep tonsil
pocket because I was getting tonsil stones on the left side of my throat each
time.
How to Prevent Tonsil Stones
I
have found only one successful prevention measure in preventing my tonsil
stones. After some extensive internet searching I located a website belonging to
Doctor Katz D.D.S. The site is dedicated to eliminating bad breath. Within the
site there is a page that discusses tonsil stones and their prevention. Doctor
Katz suggests a special spray and nasal drops. Though skeptical, I was desparate
and ordered his solution. As more an more time passed I became more and more
excited about his remedy. Since then I have not experienced a single

How to Remove
Tonsilloliths
Prior to trying the Doctor Katz remedy for preventing
tonsil stones, I did discover a much easier method for removing tonsil stones. I
purchased a water pik and used it to flush the tonsil stone out. A water pik is
a pressurized dental irrigator. It can be used to rinse food particles from
between teeth and supposedly works better than flossing. To remove tonsil stones
you'll need a water pik that is strong enough to power out the tonsil stone. The
smaller water piks will not work. I bought a Con-aire Interplak Water Jet which
does the job just fine. I wouldn't go with any smaller than this one though. The

Tonsil Stones (tonsilloliths) are caused by an accumulation of
sulfur-producing bacteria and debris that become lodged in the tonsils. This
debris (which can include mucous from post nasal drip) putrifies in the back of
your throat, and collects in the tonsil crypts (small divots or pockets
which appear on the surface of the tonsils).
When this debris combines
with the Volatile Sulfur Compounds produced by the anaerobic bacteria beneath
the surface of your tongue, along with the tonsil stones it can also create
chronic Halitosis (and other stubborn bad breath and taste disorders).
Important: If you do not have
your tonsils then you will NOT (except for rare exceptions) experience tonsil
stones. However this does NOT mean that you should run out and get your tonsils
removed.
As we get older, tonsilectomies become increasingly dangerous,
but aside from that, even if you have your tonsils removed, you will most likely
still have bad breath! Why is that?
You see, the sulfur producing
bacteria breeding beneath the surface of your tongue (which are integral to the
creation of those tonsil stones) are also the most likely candidates to cause
bad breath!
So, even if you have your tonsils removed, unless you remove
or hinder these anaerobic bacteria, your friends may still exhibit those
tell-tale signs that YOU have bad breath! (ie pulling away, offering you gum,
twitching at their nose, etc.)
And, since you can't have your tongue
removed (at least not in the U.S.), there is a better idea: Fortunately, getting
rid of tonsil stones is not that difficult...
A simple combination of
AktivOxigen Tablets and Nasal Sinus Drops will effectively eliminate tonsil
stones without unnecessary tonsil surgery. Plus, occasional use of a Oxygenating
Spray will help to immediately neutralize the anaerobic sulfur-producing
bacteria on contact.
Now keep in
mind, as you know from reading my ebook (the Bad Breath Bible), if you truly
want to prevent bad breath then you must use an oxygenating toothpaste and
mouthwash and ideally a tongue scraper to effectively neutralize the anaerobic
bacteria from the very back of the tongue.

I have suffered from these nasty critters [tonsil stones] for years. I just accepted that I would always have them. However, since using the tonsil stone remedy I learned about on tonsilstones.net, I have not experienced even one tonsil stone.
